Belleville Hangs on to Win in OT
Inside Prep Sports/By Kyle Baker
Belleville 50 vs Ypsilanti Lincoln 49 OT
Inside a packed Belleville gymnasium was a back and fourth game the entire way. Neither team had a double digit advantage all night, which eventually lead into overtime. While George Spencer was the only Belleville player to get into double figures tonight, 6'2" 2014 small forward Alexander Fowler scored nine points but the last two were the winning bucket in OT. 6'5" 2015 forward Lazon Hicks led Lincoln in scoring with 12 points all from the paint and 5'10" 2015 combo guard Sherrod Motley-Dismuke added 10 points and missed the game winning three at the buzzer.
6'5" 2014 small forward George Spencer- Spencer showed up big tonight against Ypsi Lincoln scoring a game high 24 points. After scoring 11 points in the first half, he seemed to elevate his game. He scored the ball in different ways all night, put-backs, driving to the basket strong and a post fade-away from a double team. He hit a big three to tie the game late in the 4th quarter. When the game was sent into overtime he scored four of the six total OT points his team had, but missed the front end of a one and one with his team up one with 15 seconds left. But Belleville was able to get a stop afterwards to win the game.
6'8" 2015 small forward Devin Haygood- Haygood played well inside the paint, using his 6’7” athletic frame to control the boards while also scoring 10 points for Lincoln. Also had a three blocks in the second half.
6'7" 2016 wing Ty Groce- Groce wasn't in a good rhythm in the first half. But hit big shots in the 4th/OT. Groce hit a floater, and a great pull up jump shot both to tie the game for Lincoln in the 4th. After Spencer quickly score the first four points in OT, Groce came down and hit a big catch and shoot three to pull his team within one point. Although he didn't put up big numbers this 6’6” sophomore has a lot of potential. He dribbles with confidence and has a soft touch with not only his floaters but him jump shot as well.
